Fans can trust that Jerome Bettis knows greatness when he sees it, and the Hall of Fame Pittsburgh Steelers running back is comparing third-round rookie quarterback Drew Allar to another legend.

For Bettis, there are plenty of differences between the two, but Allar shares one important trait with the legendary Ben Roethlisberger: size.

“[Allar] is a pretty big kid,” Bettis said via an interview with Action Network's DJ Siddiqi. “He’s definitely not as athletic as Ben was. Ben could move; he was a big, big dude, but he could move. I don’t know if he’s as athletic as Ben, but in terms of size, he’s got that size. … He’s up there, so I just think from the physical perspective, he’s supremely talented. He’s got a big arm. He can make all the throws, so it’s just about learning the NFL game, and I think he’s in a great position to learn behind Aaron Rodgers.”

Allar has a great build at 6-foot-5 and 228 pounds. For reference, Roethlisberger was also 6-foot-5 but weighed in slightly heavier at 240 pounds.

Selected by Pittsburgh with the 76th overall pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Allar has a legitimate shot at becoming the franchise signal-caller for the Steelers in 2027. But he'll first need to beat out Will Howard for the honor.
