The running back position may not be the most valuable position, but it is coming back into the spotlight as more teams switch back to establishing the run. It still helps to have a good quarterback, even if the last two Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks (Jalen Hurts and Sam Darnold) aren't the most elite quarterbacks in the game.

While highly unlikely, a duo of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love would be very intriguing. Love was asked in a recent appearance with NBC Sports about potential quarterbacks he'd love to play with.

Love used the classic prospect speak and was very careful not to name any quarterbacks directly. He did mention seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady, who has been retired since 2023.

"I want to play with the best quarterback," Love told NBC's Connor Rogers and Lawrence Jackson. "I ain't going to say his name."

It could be fun to speculate about which quarterbacks Love would want to play with, so why not speculate about it being Burrow? Of course, the reality is that running back is not a pressing need at all for the Bengals, thanks to the play of Chase Brown, particularly in the second half of the season.

The Bengals are not in a position where they need to be spending a top-10 pick on a running back, even one as electric as Love, who ran a 4.36 40 at the Scouting Combine. That capital is better served on the defensive side of the football.

Also, Love may not even be on the board when the Bengals select at No. 10 overall. Love's draft stock could be similar to that of Ashton Jeanty, who was selected No. 6 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders last year. Love is arguably a much better prospect than Jeanty was coming out of Boise State.

As far as quarterbacks in that area go, the Bengals have one of the two best quarterbacks among teams drafting in the top 10, depending on one's point of view. Some guy named Patrick Mahomes plays for the team drafting ninth overall. Most of the other teams in the top 10 have major question marks at the position. So, from that standpoint, it's not hard to question Burrow being one of the players Love could be referring to. Regardless, the likelihood of Love sporting a Bengals jersey in the NFL is slim to none.
