Jefry Yan ignited some haters around Major League Baseball after his debut for the New York Mets on Wednesday night. We called Yan the Martin Gramatica of pitchers because he loves to celebrate strikeouts with a leap into the air that sometimes ends in a split, which is a delight. We should all celebrate accomplishments!

But because this is baseball, there will be haters. And on Thursday, with Yan leaping his way to a mostly clean inning in the win over the Mets, the opposing Cleveland Guardians took the time to mock him with some leaps and jumps in the dugout. That included a jump from Jose Ramirez.

Jefry Yan responded to boos from Guardians fans

Jefry Yan on being booed by Guardians fans:

"They can do whatever they want. They're paying for tickets so if they want to yell at me or if they want to boo me, they can do whatever they want. I'm in my zone."pic.twitter.com/0V2Q6wHABxhttps://t.co/UWY56qTBoY

"I don't think about that. They can do whatever they want there. They're paying their tickets, if they want to yell at me or if they want to boo me, they can do whatever they want. I'm in my zone. I'm going to enjoy my game any way that I want to."

Why does Jefry Yan jump after strikeouts?

From USA TODAY Sports:

Yan has been doing some version of this for five years, through the Marlins system, winter ball at home in the Dominican, a season in Japan and a Rockies spring training that turned him into a clip everybody had seen by April. Some nights it's finger guns. Some nights he calls the out himself, arm cocked like an umpire.
