The Miami Dolphins are hiring Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to be the team's next head coach, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.

Hafley, who spent the last two seasons as the Packers defensive coordinator, had a second interview with the Dolphins and was considered the front runner to land the job entering the final round. Helping his cause was Jon-Eric Sullivan, a long-time Packers personnel executive who was hired as the Dolphins general manager.

Together, Hafley and Sullivan will attempt to turn the Dolphins into contenders in the AFC East.

The top priority for coach Matt LaFleur to start the offseason will now be finding a new defensive coordinator. A list of possible candidates can be found here.

The Packers will host Hafley and the Dolphins at Lambeau Field during the 2026 regular season.

Hafley will replace Mike McDaniel, who went 7-10 in his final season in Miami. During two seasons in Green Bay, Hafley helped the Packers rank sixth in scoring defense in 2024 and 11th in 2025. Before coming to Green Bay, Hafley was the head coach of Boston College.
