The defense is bad with him or without him. He is way past his prime and if they can unload him do it.
This team was built terribly and needs to be reimagined with a new GM. Not the turd that built it.
So, who is the turd?

Former GM Steve Keim drafted Baker to be a stud for the defense.

Baker is gone next year due to his contract. Unless some team offers a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him, there is no reason to get rid of him in 2026.

Baker wouldn't have fetched a 2nd round pick in his prime. Where do you come up with a pick that high?

Any pick for the guy at this point in his career is fine.

He adds more value as a defender and someone to cheer for than he’d yield in trade. It’s still an entertainment product.

Monti’s so dumb we won’t even get a comp pick for him; we have to cut a potential hall of fame player. So stupid.

Naw...it's a Tootsie Roll man...you remember Tootsie Rolls right?
It is a Baby Ruth that you take into the public pool and release into the water. Tootsie Rolls sink to the bottom while Baby Ruths have the peanut flotation to bob at the surface and catch the eye of terrified swimmers.

Disagree. There is not a player on this team that he is holding back. He is still a good S even if he is an overpaid one.

On a team, and specifically a defensive unit, that lacks talent, cutting talent to cut talent is not a smart move.
