I was asking about this year. I think the Suns are better with Williams and ManMan but Oso has his pluses. Free throws are what brings him down

I do like Oso and think he will keep improving but not making free throws hurts. IMO, the Suns will keep him. He brings so much energy to the team.

He might want to visit the idea of shooting free throws underhanded like Rick Barry or try some other technique.

I don't follow Gambo or Olson much except on twitter so I mostly form my own opinions. They are informed though. I do my research. Now, I really enjoyed Gerald Bourguet but I do not have a subscription to his new site.

The Suns off season moves will be shaped by the CBA and the players they want to keep the most. At least it won't be because the owner is unwilling to pay the price. It could get tricky so that's where the Suns might have to trade a player they would prefer to keep. We will have to wait and see what the market is for these players.
So the first round picks being in play for us only stays so if we keep under those aprons. So for sure finances are going to be an issue this off season. It will make for more news than normal. Which will be good for us to have something to talk about. The NBA dollars have been going up in general from the TV and streaming revenues. That could be one thing that helps us out a bit. I know Dunn has struggled this season, but he's still improving overall. The young core we have now to pair with veterans is encouraging. Another reason to keep those draft picks from getting frozen. Overall, it looks like with Rasheer and Maluach picks, it looks like they know who to draft. So in theory those picks are very valuable to us. I'd rather we let guys walk, than use picks to trade guys away.

I think Oso has potential on the free throws. At the very beginning of the season he looked way better. I think if he has another off season and gets back to the early mechanics he showed at the start of the season, he could climb up to the average range. It really looks like to me, he is shooting his free throws based on how Brooks shoots his jumpers. Oso is trying to laser them into the hoop right now. It's obviously not working. Overall, Oso has always tried to be a mechanical shooter at the free throw line and use a connected free throw technique. Maybe he needs to be shown a disconnected techinique and use more feel ala Charles Barkley. It couldn't hurt trying something just the opposite, so maybe he could learn some tocuch, even when he goes back to a connected technique.

The projected salary cap has actually gone down $1 million. See below. Tough decisions are ahead.

With the Suns, it's going to be like shopping on a budget at the thrift store. There will be bargains to be found but they have to shop carefully and only pick up a few things they need.

I looked it up. The projected numbers for a category will be less than projected. But the numbers go up overall.

So the Salary cap is rising from $154.647 million to $165 million.
The Tax Level is rising from $187.895 million to $201 million.
The first apron is rising from $195.945 million to $209 million.
The second apron is rising from $207.824 million to $222 million.

Chams article is just saying some of the increases will be $1 million lower than initially projected.

Of course the CBA could amend all this. I thought these numbers merited their own thread so we could update and have quick reference for off season discussions.

I started a thread for just this, keeping track of these numbers for off season reference.

Playoff performances will go a long way in deciding who we keep.

I think it was Gambo or Olsen that was saying if the price is too much, they may just let him walk, period. It might have been both guys. With him being injured, and his play tailing off after the first two months of the season, he might be cheap enough to keep.
I think that goes for both MW and CG. Collin's had a great season. If he gets offered the bag I don't think we should match. We have options (though injuries are not seldom) and we need to keep flexibility. He should take it though. Hope we can find a middle way.
