Following the failed Giannis Antetokounmpo trade pursuit, the Boston Celtics find themselves in a tough position with guard Jaylen Brown, increasing the likelihood that the team could trade him this offseason. As trade rumors continue to swirl, the latest report on trade talks involving Brown could cause a bit of a wrinkle in Boston's plans. Specifically, the asking price that the Celtics are reportedly seeking for Brown is high enough that it could quickly turn teams off the idea of a possible deal.

During a recent segment of ESPN's Get Up, NBA insider Shams Charania dropped an eye-opening tidbit about trade talks, citing that in some cases, they've asked for at least four first-round draft picks for Brown.

"What's the ask now? My understanding is, in some cases, the Celtics have asked teams for at least four first-round picks for Jaylen Brown," Charania stated. "He's got three years left on his contract at a supermax clip, so where does that put him in terms of his value?"

Although Charania didn't reveal how the asking price was received, he did question the Celtics' outlook on their roster going forward. This is a fair question, considering that if the Celtics do swap Brown for a bevy of picks, that wouldn't do much to help the team contend for a title in the 2026-27 season.
