Jaylen Brown's stream sparks controversy as Celtics face major offseason decisions originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Boston Celtics exit from the 2026 playoffs definitely hurt, as they blew a 3-1 lead to the Philadelphia 76ers, after being pegged at the team to make it out of the East.
Now their offseason has begun, franchise star Jaylen Brown has been active on social media to say the least. With that in mind, and the fact the Celtics may need to spice things up, he could end up on the trade block.

Literally a day after their loss to Philly, Brown hopped on his Twitch channel to stream and talk about the series. He called out Sixers superstar Joel Embiid for being a flopper, complained about the referees, and then said this was his favorite season of his career.
Pretty crazy to say that after becoming the 14th team in NBA history and first Celtics team to blow a 3-1 lead. Critics are agreeing, with guys like Stephen A. Smith admonishing him for his Embiid comments, and Nick Wright hating Brown saying this was his favorite year.

Even with the series loss, Brown’s value is at an all-time high. Jayson Tatum was out for most of the year recovering from his Achilles tear, and left Brown to shoulder the burden.
In a year everyone thought would be a wash, Brown led the Celtics to another playoff appearance. During the season, he averaged 28.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and one steal in 34 minutes per game. He earned his fifth All-Star nod, and will likely get an All-NBA selection.
Will Brown be traded?

Even with all of this in mind, the jury is still out on a possible trade for Brown. The Celtics are looking to shake things up, and getting a true superstar is quite definitely on the table.
However, Boston’s GM Brad Stevens is a basketball wizard. He’s great at getting what he wants and giving up the least for it, so if anyone can find a way to get another superstar without giving up one of his own, it’s him.
Overall, Brown’s media presence and great season makes him a valuable asset for the Celtics. Only time will tell what Boston will do with him.
