The career path of Javier Fernández at Bayern Munich is anything but smooth sailing. A lengthy injury ruled the former Atletico Madrid midfielder out, while his immediate future at the club is still not set in stone. He has now been given a loan assignment to fellow Bavarian club FC Nürnberg, but the 19-year-old Spaniard still believes that he can break into the first team at Bayern.
“Of course, I still dream of playing for Bayern in the Bundesliga and the Champions League someday,” Fernández said (via Bild journo Nicolas Linner as captured by X account @iMiaSanMia). “But right now, my focus is on Nürnberg. I want to play as much as possible to continue improving and to be able to help the team even more.”
Fernández is still rated by Bayern, and he even made the bench for a few official matches in the 2025/26 season. He still has enough time to make a good impression.
