The first major silly season news dropped today, involving a former champion. 2018 Monster Energy AMA Supercross 450 class champion Jason Anderson is on the move, returning to the brand he began his professional career with. It was announced Monday afternoon that Anderson signed with the HEP Motorsports Suzuki team for the 2026 SuperMotocross World Championship season. Anderson will be returning to the yellow brand, where he spent 2011 to 2013 with the Rockstar Energy Suzuki (now Husqvarna) team.
In today's press release, Suzuki's USA Motorsports Manager Chris Wheeler said, "Bringing Jason Anderson back to Suzuki is another big moment for us. Jason has always had that rebel spark-flashy, gritty and fearlessness on the bike. It's a full circle story that honors Suzuki's history, but it also feels like the start of something new."
Prior to signing with the HEP organization, Anderson spent the last four years with Monster Energy Kawasaki. Anderson's debut season with Kawasaki in 2022 was a fantastic year, starting with a runner-up finish in the AMA Supercross standings. He won seven main events, including four straight to end the year. Anderson also won his first two AMA Pro Motocross overalls that summer at Hangtown and Budds Creek. 2025 was a tough year for Anderson, who bowed out of each championship early. Anderson's tenure at Kawasaki ended with nine wins and 29 podiums.
Anderson turned pro aboard a Suzuki in 2011, qualifying for his first career main event at Houston in February. The New Mexico native scored a couple of major milestones with the brand, logging his first professional podium with a second place run at Salt Lake City in 2012 and scoring his first main event victory in the same stadium a year later. He will add to his 59 previous starts with the brand starting at Anaheim in January. Anderson's first ride with the HEP organization will take place at the World Supercross Championship opener in Buenos Aires, Argentina on November 8th.
The news caps off a banner week for Suzuki and the Pipes Motorsports Group, after the brand announced it re-signed Ken Roczen on Thursday. With a wealth of experience and knowledge, the Roczen/Anderson combination could be one to watch in the upcoming season.
