The Cleveland Cavaliers are in the Eastern Conference Finals after pulling off the Game 7 win on the road against the Detroit Pistons. It was a demolition for the Cavaliers, as they blew the Pistons out 125-94.

It was an impressive victory, which means they will be playing against the New York Knicks in the ECF. That was the pre-season prediction for the most part, and now, it is a reality thanks to standout nights from Jarrett Allen and Donovan Mitchell.

Jarrett Allen celebrates Donovan Mitchell's impact as the Cavs' leader

Ever since getting traded to the Cavaliers in 2022, Mitchell has been their star player. He is the biggest name on the roster, considering he is a natural first option, and he has taken ownership of the leader role.

A teammate who has been with him the whole way has been Allen. They have a natural connection, which is evident in their two-man game whenever they are playing the pick-and-roll.

Mitchell was excellent in Game 7, posting 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists. On the other hand, Allen was also superb with his 23 points and 7 rebounds. It was yet another reason why the Cavs are a tough matchup, especially in a high-stakes Game 7.

While Allen deserves credit for having a great game, he would be the first one to credit Mitchell. After the game, he made sure to highlight Mitchell's impact on the team's dynamics.

"He started out the game not trying to take it over, not trying to score every single basket. He started out the game trying to distribute the ball. I think that's huge for a leader like him, trying to get everyone else going, and then getting himself going second," Allen said in his post-game interview after Game 7.

When some people look at Mitchell, they always see the number-one option. He is a go-to scorer, but he is also a decent playmaker, which was evident early in the Cavs' Game 7 win, which they kept building on to win the series.
