Los Angeles Rams edge rusher Jared Verse saw firsthand what a healthy and energized Matthew Stafford brings to a team. He watched as Stafford would make pre-game speeches after pre-game stretches before every matchup and get the whole Rams team ready for battle.
That mentality reminded Verse of one of the most iconic Marvel superheroes.
"He’s like Captain America," Verse said on The Rich Eisen Show. "He’s really composed all the time. He’s really collected all the time, even during big moments. But he knows how to hype people up right before the game. ... He brings energy to a team.
"I think he’s one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history."
Stafford has led the Rams to the playoffs in four of his five seasons with the team. The one year he didn't, Stafford played just nine games.
After an offseason of uncertainty, Stafford returned to the Rams on revised contract that will pay him a lot more money that he was previously making. It was a big swing for L.A. despite Stafford turning 37, but the more keeps the Rams squarely in the playoff conversation for as long as he's under center.
