Jared Verse’s 20-sack season claim will have Browns fans hyped appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Cleveland Browns traded Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams this offseason in a stunning move. In return, the Browns received draft picks and edge rusher Jared Verse. Expectations for the Browns overall are low this upcoming season. But Verse could certainly be a major bright spot.
Verse is entering his third NFL season and is coming off a bit of a breakout campaign. He played all 17 games for Los Angeles last year. In that time, he recorded 7.5 sacks, 11 tackles for a loss, and three forced fumbles. It was a promising season, and according to the man himself, his peers around the league have taken notice.
“We watched a bunch of different tapes and plays and when my tape came up, Von and Maxx and Cam Jordan, they were quick to say, ‘You have the best power in the league. You can walk anybody back. Once you move off that, you’ll be unstoppable. You’ll go from 7, 8, 9 sacks to 20 … going into those higher numbers,'” the Browns star said, via BrownsNation.com.

Cleveland did not have a great 2025 season, struggling to a 5-12 finish. In saying this, Cleveland’s defense was a big bright spot. Garrett broke the sack record last season as the unit helped keep the Browns in many games. Without Garrett, Verse will be one of the key contributors, especially on the defensive line.
The Browns are hoping to do much better in 2026 than they did in 2025. Cleveland begins its 2026 campaign on September 13 on the road against Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars.
