James Rodríguez makes Colombian national team history against Switzerland

Colombia are currently level at half-time of their World Cup Round of 16 clash against Switzerland.

And heading into the second-half, the Colombians will be looking for a moment of magic from James Rodríguez on what is a milestone occasion for their captain.



Today marks Rodríguez's 131st appearance for Colombia, officially passing veteran goalkeeper David Ospina to become the most capped player in Colombian national team history.

In that time, the former Real Madrid man has registered 31 goals and 43 assists for his country.


Rodríguez, who turns 35 on Sunday, is playing in his third World Cup (2014, 2018, 2026).

Although, he is perhaps best known for his first World Cup in 2014, when the Colombian won the Golden Boot and scored the goal of the tournament against Uruguay.
