Anything going on behind the scenes in having JC announce a Pick?

(1) Is he going to announce his retirement before the draft and this appearance is going to be a way to honor his performance and importance to the Cards? His injury was severe given his age and is he at the point of retirement? JC did redo his contract---it looked like an injury settlement deal that was kept quiet before the draft. It was also reported that he put his Phoenix home on the market.

(2) If he is still considered a prime part of our running game, does this mean we are not going to consider RB Love? Cards wouldn't pick Love in the 1st round and then have the guy he is replacing at the podium in the next round? Cards wouldn't do that . . . or would they???

Don't overthink it. He's a recognizable face and someone we all like. That's all.

To Moe, Larry, and Curley,

Speculation is the basis of this fan forum. Just take a look at all the spin posted on the upcoming draft. I guess you could argue that most of the content here is also the origin of rumors. Harry even does us the favor of labeling his daily post as 'Rumors.'

For those who gamble on which team will take which player, consideration of what is going on with JC will skew the odds on a player like Love.

Here's the current odds on just one sports betting site as to which player is going at pick #3. This for the benefit of any Stooge(s) who doesn't appreciate people bet on the draft. Any info (even rumors and speculation) regarding the status of JC will impact the odds for/against Love at pick #3 (assuming the Cards stick).

If you don't like my posts or content, don't overthink it---just ignore my posts and don't comment. I believe you can put me on 'Ignore?' Save you and especially me the grief. Especially when it requires some understanding and analysis beyond the walls of your momma's basement.

Are you saying it is wrong for people to cite low likelihood speculation as such?

Your thoughts could be accurate, but as a bettor, those are low % outcomes. I would need appropriate odds to wager on them occurring. I can say that based on the Conner pick announcement that +5000 for Love to go three is great odds and a value bet but I still have to acknowledge it is +5000 for a reason. If the news then moves the odds to +350, that changes whether or not I feel there is value in the outcome.

Ya know, I sat on this for a while and was just going to take your advice and not respond. But even though you have put up some good posts, I've noticed when someone disagrees with you, you get defensive and start throwing shade. Just like you started the post with, To Moe, Larry and Curley. Intentionally derogatory! This is a "discussion" forum but as you posted, "if you don't like, don't comment, saving you the grief." And ending with the remark that we're too ignorant to understand your comments because we must be living in our "momma's basement". That comment is ignorant in itself because the average age of the members, sadly, may no longer have their mothers in their lives anymore.
And I will take your advice to put you on Ignore...so no need to respo.....click.......

(In reference to the statement in bold). Why would I be making that claim when I am the one putting together bits-and-pieces surrounding JC and wondering aloud if there is are any clues into what---if anything---is going on?

The remainder of your comment addresses your betting strategy. My reply to Moe, Larry, and Curly was to let them know that any information and RUMORS surrounding a give player come draft time will move the needle on who, when, and the odds surrounding a player.

This is all now in real time---when a player announces his retirement, watch the betting odds around that team's location in the draft---it changes. Will they now go after his replacement in the draft and take a different player? And that is where your chosen betting strategy comes into play.

It is a big reason teams are now required to post their injury list at specific times during the week before a game. That is for the benefit of the gamblers---and it is meant to keep gamblers from invading the team facilities and paying off players, coaches, trainers, Doctors, (on down the list) for that 'insider' information,

As much as the loyal fan base, betting houses watch the mock drafts that come out from the 'expert' draftniks. They adjust their odds and study the commentary. And place their bets.

Nothing wrong at all with being defensive. Being intentionally derogatory is more honest that being unintentionally derogatory. You make that declaration as if it is some flaw in my personality. You have to react when Moe, Larry, and Curley all dismiss your comments and take turns with the eye pokes (or try to take your milk money on the playground) with a condescending comment(s) and tell you to essentially shut up.

I certainly didn't mean to slur the good names of the Three Stooges by using them here. They are comedy legends (at least for males) and should not have their names lowered on this forum by associating them with our resident trio. Unfortunatley, they were the best trio that I could think to use. Now that you have put me on 'Ignore' I'll have to switch to something like 'Bevis and Butthead' or 'Dumb and Dumber' should your partners continue with their dismissive comments.

I was surprised and disappointed that 'some dumb guy' jumped into the conversation with his uninformed opinion. Up to this point, we were agreeing on a lot of subjects but, just like a toadie on the playground, he jumped in when the resident bullies on this forum dismissed my comments without a thought. Guess he prefers their support over mine by adding his own negatives to the list. Maybe they will invite him into their inner circle? But alas, he will not even read this since he has me on 'Ignore.'

As to dead Mommas, I didn't mean to ridicule them. My comments were to the guys still living in their Momma's basement. I should have said in their dead Momma's basement given the age of a lot of the posters.

Speculation that the Card's may go after Love based on MO/MLF comments about 'not drafting for need.'

Mel Kiper on defending Dan O's comments about the draft:

“First of all, Danno doesn’t have to worry about anybody else and what they think,” Kiper said. “He doesn’t have to worry about what teams are gonna back him up. Just have an opinion, state it. Danno has an opinion; he’s a former quarterback; he evaluates these guys tremendously well. State your case!

“I had that same feeling about Shedeur Sanders,” Kiper admitted. “I still believe strongly in Shedeur and what he can do in Cleveland. So, hold to it. Don’t let anybody talk you out of it. Don’t let anybody bully ya. Ty Simpson, if he believes that, fine!”
