Jamal Murray has been an integral part of the Denver Nuggets lineup for nearly a decade. While the basketball world associates the Nuggets and their success with Nikola Jokic, it's possible the Nuggets don't win their first NBA championship in franchise history in 2023 without Murray.
Jokic, 30, is a three-time NBA MVP and has spent his entire 10-year NBA career with the Nuggets, clearly proving he will be the franchise's cornerstone piece for as long as he wants to remain in Denver.
Murray, 28, has also spent his entire nine-year NBA career with the Nuggets after being selected with the No. 7 overall pick in in the 2016 NBA Draft.
While Murray is a career 18.0 points per game scorer in the regular season, he has saved some of his most prolific offensive performances for the playoffs. Most notably, he dropped 50 points twice in the span of three games during the first round of the 2020 (bubble) playoffs. He dropped 42 points in the second game of that three-game stretch.
Murray pulled out some of his old tricks during Tuesday night's Game 5 matchup with the Los Angeles Clippers. With the series tied at two, the Nuggets secured a crucial win, 131-115, behind Murray's 43-point performance.
This was Murray's sixth 40-point playoff game of his career, surpassing Jokic for the most in Nuggets franchise history.
Murray added seven assists, five rebounds, three steals, and eight made 3-pointers to go along with his 43 points.
The Nuggets now hold a 3-2 series lead over the Clippers and will head to Los Angeles in hopes to close out the series on Thursday night at 5:00 p.m. EDT.

Jokic may have taken a back seat to Murray's prolific scoring on Tuesday, and in Nuggets history, but he posted his third triple-double of the series with 13 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds.
