The Vikings dug deep in the free agent pool just before camp as they pulled an old trick out of the bag by signing a big-name veteran.
Previously, the team signed Stephon Gilmore in 2024 and got decent production and play with him. This week, they signed former top pick Jamal Adams, who signed with the team to bring a veteran presence along with a plethora of other skills to the team. The veteran defender spoke to the media ahead of his first practice with the team and he was eager to share how much he can do for the Vikings in 2026.
Adams explained, "Man I can play linebacker, safety, corner, nose tackle, D-end, kicker, it don’t even matter. Whatever position you want me to play, I’ll play. You want me to walk the dog, I’ll walk the dog.”
Adams will play linebacker for the Vikings, potentially in the role that Ivan Pace Jr. currently holds. The former UDFA has struggled over the last two years, and the linebacker play has been critical for their defensive success. Adams is hoping to bring with him a veteran mindsight and unique skillset from previously playing as a safety for the Seattle Seahawks and New York Jets.
