The Philadelphia Eagles have locked up their star defensive tackle for the foreseeable future – and did so in quite the flashy way.
On Tuesday, Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter's agents reported that the two-time Pro Bowl selection signed a four-year, $152 million extension. The deal includes an option that could raise the total to $160 million and guarantees Carter $106 million. The contract is historic, making him the highest-paid defensive tackle in NFL history.
Carter, who just wrapped up his third season in the league, saw the franchise pick up his fifth-year option earlier this offseason, which would have kept him in Philadelphia through the 2027 season. With his new extension, he'll now be set to play with the Eagles through the 2031 season.
Carter is certainly worth the deal, as he has made a major impact for the Eagles' defense over the past few years. He has recorded 13.5 sacks, 37 quarterback hits, and 108 tackles in his first three seasons in the league, and his performance in 2024 and 2025 was good enough to earn him back-to-back Pro Bowl selections. Now, Eagles fans can expect to see him wreaking havoc in the trenches for another six years.
