Jalen Brunson reveals honest thoughts on latest Knicks addition Jeremy Sochan originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The New York Knicks put the final touches on their roster right before the All-Star break, adding Jose Alvarado at the NBA trade deadline and signing former San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan on the buyout market.
Sochan, a former top-10 pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, expects to provide some quality depth off the bench for the Knicks. He had lost his role on the Spurs this past season, appearing in only 28 games and averaging 12.8 minutes.
Jalen Brunson was asked what he expects from Sochan on the Knicks during All-Star weekend and sounded excited about the prospect of his addition to the team.
Jalen Brunson sounds off on Jeremy Sochan's addition
"I'm very excited to see him. I think he brings a level of toughness. From what I've seen, he's been a great teammate, and so I'm very excited. It's a great opportunity for us and for him, and we'll see him when we get back," Brunson told reporters.
Sochan's role remains unclear at this point. There are already several players not getting a whole lot of minutes on the Knicks bench, including Tyler Kolek, Kevin McCullar Jr., and Pacome Dadiet.
But Sochan obviously has more NBA experience than the aforementioned players, and is easily the best defender of the bunch.
If Brunson is excited to have Sochan in the mix, then that means Knicks fans are as well, and it will be interesting to see if the Knicks utilize him in their first game coming out of the break on February 19.
If OG Anunoby is still out with his toe injury, I would expect Sochan to get a little bit of run.
