Former Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Jake Browning has a new home in NFL free agency.

Browning signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this week, where he will slot into the depth chart behind Baker Mayfield.

While doing so, Browning briefly touched on what went wrong with the Bengals last year.

“I played well in 2023 and I thought I was going to be the one to save us. I forced some throws which was dumb and trying to do too much was the big takeaway, ” Browning said, according to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

So, not anything that Bengals fans didn’t see for themselves last season, but it’s still interesting to hear him touch on the topic at all.

The Bengals chose not to re-up with Browning at all this offseason despite easily being able to do so, which sort of speaks to where things stood for the parties.

Last season, Browning struggled to the point the Bengals left their usual comfort zone and got aggressive with the trade for Joe Flacco while trying to keep the season alive.

This week, the Bengals found Joe Burrow’s new backup in free agency, at least until Flacco potentially decides to return.
