Former Minnesota and Rutgers quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis is on the Jacksonville Jaguars' radar ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.
According to SI's Justin Melo, Kaliakmanis had a virtual meeting with Jaguars' quarterbacks coach Spencer Whipple.
Let's take a closer look at what Kaliakmanis could bring to the Jaguars.
Kaliakmanis is an experienced prospect, with 1,361 dropbacks over four seasons. This past season with Rutgers was his most productive and efficient. Kaliakmanis completed 62% of his passes at 8.4 yards per attempt with 20 touchdowns to seven interceptions.
For his career, he's completd 56% of his throws at 7.3 yards per attempt with 55 touchdowns to 27 interceptions, according to PFF.
Kaliakmanis is the 355th-ranked player on the NFL consensus big board.
Damien Parsons of Bleacher Report highlighted the strengths and weaknesses of Kaliakmanis' game.
A few of Kaliakmanis' strengths include having a "compact throwing motion with a quick release," along with "above-average arm strength, flashing short area velocity."
Some areas of improvement include "inconsistent ball placement at all three levels" and he "tends to stare down his first read in the passing progression."
Obviously, the need here is quite low -- or even non-existent. Now, perhaps Gladstone brings in a quarterback to compete with Bradley for the third spot on the depth chart, but if so, my guess is that it won't happen until late in the draft or in undrafted free agency.
