Jacoby Brissett broke the NFL record today for most completions in a single game with 47.
The Arizona Cardinals' backup completed 47 out of his 57 passes in a loss to divisional rival San Francisco, 41-22. Brissett threw for 452 yards, two touchdowns, and a pair of interceptions.
Brisett has been Arizona's starter for the past few weeks, with franchise QB Kyler Murray sidelined and on injured reserve last week, as the team rallied behind the backup. In his short time as a starter, Brissett has impressed, throwing for over 250 yards and two touchdowns in each of his last four appearances.
The record was previously held by another former NFC West quarterback, Jared Goff, who completed 45 passes against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2019. Drew Bledsoe also had 45 completions in 1994 against the Minnesota Vikings.
Another active player high on the list, Patrick Mahomes, had 44 completions versus the Tennessee Titans in 2022.
Although the record is a defeat, Brissett is showing that he might be the quarterback Arizona should be playing around with, regardless of Murray's health status. He will have at least three more starts to continue to not only show why he should be the main man in the desert, but maybe break his own newly penned record.
