Jacksonville Christian and Spring Garden opened the Class 1A, Area 12 softball tournament with first-round victories Monday.

The Thunder defeated Coosa Christian, 15-0, while the Panthers topped Gaylesville, 5-2.

JCA and Spring Garden are scheduled to meet Tuesday at 2 p.m., with the winner advancing to the championship round.

Jacksonville Christian 15, Coosa Christian 0: Addy Lee fired a perfect game against the Conquerors, striking out seven in the three-inning victory.

She went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles, two RBIs and one run scored.

Bryleigh Reid hit a two-run inside-the-park home run, and Mollie Mullinax finished 1-for-2 with an RBI triple and two runs scored.

Sophie Williams drew three walks, stole a base and scored three times. Audrina Williams went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Carlie Chesson finished 2-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Cali Sexton, Amia Jones and Amberly Brodeur each added a single. Sexton stole a base and scored twice, while Jones and Symone Estell each crossed the plate once.

Spring Garden 5, Gaylesville 2: Kylie Bates led the Panthers at the plate, going 2-for-4. She led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home and finished with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Addie Word hit a two-run inside-the-park home run. Maya Jennings, Olivia Messer, Ellie Miller and Hayden Parris each added a single. Parris and Lleyton Carroll scored one run apiece.

Kendall Birchfield earned the win in the circle, allowing two earned runs on three hits and three walks over seven innings. She recorded seven strikeouts.
