With the 2025-26 college basketball season officially in the books, the transfer portal is open, and the offseason has begun. For the Oregon Ducks, that means it's time for Dana Altman to replenish a roster that saw five entries into the portal and lost other valuable assets to graduation and the NBA Draft, such as Nate Bittle and TK Simpkins.
Among the Ducks' entrants into the portal are two staples of the program for the past three seasons: Jackson Shelstad and Kwame Evans Jr.
Shelstad and Evans are two of the top players available in the portal, and both are expected to help different teams contend for a championship next season. On3's Pete Nakos revealed his predictions for where the former Oregon stars could land during the transfer season.
According to Nakos, it's likely Shelstad will opt to stay near the West Coast, if possible. The former Oregon guard averaged 15.6 points, 2.9 rebounds and 4.9 assists across 12 games last season, but a hand injury ended his campaign early. Shelstad drew comparisons to former Oregon star Payton Pritchard for his passing and shot-creating abilities, and both are products of West Linn High School.
Shelstad has visits lined up to Louisville and Arizona, but Nakos believes Shelstad is more likely to wind up at the former Pac-12 program, which made it to the Final Four this season. The Wildcats are replacing several key stars, including their backcourt pairing of Jaden Bradley and Brayden Burries. Shelstad could slide in as the dominant ball-handler right away in Tucson.
Meanwhile, Evans is in the transfer portal looking for a new home, but he is also entertaining the NBA Draft. If Evans chooses to remain in the college ranks, Nakos thinks his recruitment could come down to two programs with historic success. Villanova is currently "in the driver's seat," according to Nakos, while Kentucky is also interested in the 6-foot-10 forward. Evans had a breakthrough with the Ducks this past season, averaging 13.3 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 blocks per game.
