AUBURN — Jackson Koivun is turning pro.

The number one amateur in the world and Auburn golf standout is taking advantage of the PGA Tour Card he earned after his sophomore season after returning to the Tigers. Koivun led Auburn to another national title while picking up six wins during the spring semester.

Koivun announced Friday, June 12, he is turning pro after the 126th U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills next weekend, where he will play after earning the Mark H. McCormack Medal for being the No. 1 amateur in the world at the end of the 2025 season. He will be giving up his spot in the 154th Open at Royal Birkdale.

Koivun will make his professional debut at the 2026 John Deere Classic on July 1 at TPC Deere Run in Illinois.

“I’m grateful to everyone at Auburn University for giving me the most incredible college experience I could’ve ever imagined,” Koivun said in a statement. “From bringing home a pair of national championships to the late nights and early mornings grinding at the facility and competing alongside guys I’ll call brothers for the rest of my life, I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

"With that being said, I’ve decided to forego my senior year to pursue my lifelong dream of playing on the PGA Tour. To my teammates, coaches, support staff, fans and most importantly, my family, thank you for supporting me in this chapter of my life. I am incredibly excited for what’s ahead, but no matter where this game takes me, I will always carry the A-U with me as a proud member of the Auburn family.”

Koivun recently won the ASWA Amateur Athlete of the Year award and swept the National Player of the Year awards in collegiate golf, winning the Nicklaus, Hogan and Haskins awards.

He becomes the only collegiate golfer to win the three awards multiple times, a feat that Tiger Woods nor Phil Mickelson couldn't accomplish. On Wednesday, he was named a Golfweek All-American.

Koivun swept the three national awards during his breakout freshman season. Koivun has 11 career wins, tied for eighth all-time, after picking up six wins this year. He ended the individual portion of his career with a T-10th finish at the NCAAs.

He has won three straight SEC titles and became the only player to win three straight SEC Player of the Year honors.
