Jackson Jobe was impressive in his long-awaited return to the mound for the Detroit Tigers, pitching five outstanding, scoreless innings against the Giants in San Francisco on Saturday.
Jobe allowed just one hit, one walk and struck out four, throwing 46 of his 71 pitches for strikes.
The game was scoreless when Jobe retired the side in the fifth, but the Tigers had taken a 1-0 lead on a bases-loaded walk to Spencer Torkelson by the time Tyler Holton spelled him on the mound in the bottom of the sixth, putting Jobe in position to earn the victory.
The Tigers had stretched that lead to 7-0 by the end of the seventh inning.
The only hit Jobe allowed was a single to Willy Adames in the fourth inning. He retired the side in order in each of the first three innings.
Jobe hadn't pitched since May of 2025 after undergoing Tommy John surgery.
