An injury scare to a rehabbing Jackson Chourio was the last thing the Milwaukee Brewers wanted in the final days before activating him. And yet that's exactly what happened on May 2 in Nashville.
Chourio departed the game for what the Brewers said were "precautionary reasons" shortly after fouling a ball off the top of his foot in the bottom of the third inning during a rehab game with the Class AAA Nashville Sounds.
The 22-year-old outfielder, who has yet to play this season while recovering from a hairline fracture in his left hand suffered in early March, was in clear pain after fouling off the pitch. He remained in the game to finish his at-bat, which ended in a strikeout looking, but was then removed prior to the top of the fourth.
Chourio was expected to be activated along with first baseman Andrew Vaughn for the Brewers contest May 4 in St. Louis. It remains to be seen if the foul ball will slow down that timeline for Chourio, while Vaughn remains on track.
