A day after leading a historic Detroit Pistons playoff comeback, head coach J.B. Bickerstaff's future has been secured further.

The team signed Bickerstaff to a contract extension on Monday, May 4, the organization announced in a release.

Details of the extension weren't revealed.

They are coming off of an Eastern Conference-leading 60-22 record, third-best in franchise history and earning Bickerstaff coach of the year honors from his peers. Since he was hired in 2024, the Pistons have morphed into one of the league's top defensive units and embraced a style of play befitting the city.

With Sunday's Game 7 blowout, the Pistons became the 15th team in NBA history to complete a 3-1 series comeback. It was a game that showcased the team's rapid growth, with All-Star guard Cade Cunningham leading the way and Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren setting the tone defensively.

Bickerstaff guided the team to a 30-win improvement in his first season, finishing 44-38 overall and making the playoffs for the first time since 2017-18 after a franchise-worst 14-68 finish in 2023-24 under former coach Monty Williams.
