UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev took a shot at Conor McGregor when asked about his future.

McGregor (22-7 MMA, 10-5 UFC) saw his comeback spoiled when he tore his ACL and meniscus after the first kick he threw against Max Holloway at UFC 329 last month. He lost the welterweight bout by injury TKO just 69 seconds in.

It was the 38-year-old's first fight five years after breaking his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

"I heard he has one last fight under his contract," Makhachev told MMA Junkie of McGregor. "I think he's going to fight last time, and he's going to move to boxing or somewhere to make money. Maybe he spend all his money on drugs and alcohol. He needs more money."

McGregor, who has every intention of completing the final fight on his UFC contract, announced Monday that he's set to undergo surgery to repair his right knee.
