The Oklahoma City Thunder completed another trade on Friday, sending sharpshooter Isaiah Joe to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for draft capital.

It is rare to see the best team in the Western Conference and the best team in the Eastern Conference from the previous season make a trade. But in this case, it made sense for both parties.

According to Yossi Gozlan, the Thunder reduced their tax penalty by $76 million with this trade. The front office also traded Aaron Wiggins earlier this week, reducing their tax penalty by a combined $140 million in the two moves.

Here are more thoughts about the deal:

Pistons get: Isaiah Joe

When it comes to draft picks, the rich get richer as Oklahoma City get more picks to add to their treasure chest. Even though Isaiah Joe is a valuable player for any contending team, the Thunder moved off of his $11.3 million salary and will open up more playing time for their younger players on rookie contracts. This move could allow minutes for Nikola Topić and rookie Bennett Stirtz, who are far cheaper. This isn't a big loss for Oklahoma City considering Joe wasn't consistently in the rotation anyway.

After striking out on Austin Reaves and Coby White, the Pistons got a needed sharpshooter on a reasonable contract without having to give up a first-round pick. During all four of his seasons with the Thunder, the former Arkansas star shot above 40.0 percent from beyond the arc. That's exactly what the Pistons needed to do to space the floor for Cade Cunningham. The Pistons are expected to use their trade exception from their recent Isaiah Stewart transaction to absorb his salary.
