In an offseason filled with changes, the Oklahoma City Thunder moved on from a couple of longtime role players. One was Isaiah Joe. He was traded to the Detroit Pistons for two future second-round picks. The move was made to shave off salary and make roster space.

Joe is one of OKC's best developmental success stories ever. He played in four seasons for the Thunder from 2022-26. In that time, he went from a waiver-wire pickup to one of the best outside shooting bench players in the league. He averaged a career-best 11.1 points this past season and shot 42.3% from 3 on six attempts.

Now, Joe hopes to provide the same type of microwave offense for Cade Cunningham and the Pistons. His lineups with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander were always a killer as the drive-heavy scorer opened up the perimeter for him. The 27-year-old has carved out quite the NBA career after a forgettable first two years on the Philadelphia 76ers.

Now that the trade became official this past Monday, Joe took to Instagram to pen a goodbye letter to OKC. He wrote the following in a touching tribute:

"Oklahoma City," Joe wrote. "It’s been 4 of the dopest years! To my coaches, teammates, and everybody within the walls of the organization, thank you for all that you’ve done for me. Everybody that I came across made a positive impact on my life. I will miss going to battle every night. The bonds that I’ve made over the years will live on forever! To the fans! Thank you for welcoming me with open arms and showing love from day one. Night in and night out, your energy never wavered! Can’t say enough how much I appreciated playing in front of you guys! Will truly be missed. We got to achieve the impossible! Wouldn’t trade the memories that we shared for anything"

Always a bummer to see a fan favorite leave. But such is the business in the NBA. Joe enjoyed his best years on the Thunder through four seasons. Along the way, he helped them win a Larry O'Brien trophy. Because of their NBA championship, he'll forever be penned into OKC lore for life.
