Deciding on Isaiah Hartenstein’s future with the team is atop the Thunder’s offseason to-do list.
The 28-year-old center was a critical piece of the Thunder’s championship team, and he was the Thunder’s best option to defend Victor Wembanyama.
Hartenstein has a team option for $28.5 million next season. The most likely scenario is that the Thunder declines Hartenstein’s option and re-signs him to a long-term extension.
“We just lost yesterday,” Hartenstein said in his exit interview Sunday when asked about his contractual status. “That’s something that will be discussed …
“I love being here. I love the organization, but it’s a lot in (the Thunder’s) hands. I think them and my agent will talk. It’s a business at the end of the day. But whatever happens, I’m truly grateful.”
Hartenstein, Lu Dort and Kenrich Williams all have team options. Among those, retaining Hartenstein should be the Thunder’s top priority.
