Isaac TeSlaa adds to a healthy Lions WR group

The Lions have strong top-end WR's and added some valuable depth by trading up to get Isaac TeSlaa in the 3rd round of the 2025 draft. TeSlaa enters the NFL in good health which adds to an already healthy group with minimal medical concerns. Here is the breakdown of the key members of the WR room.

(Age at start of 2025 season)

Isaac TeSlaa (23) - signed through 2028​

∎2024 (Arkansas) Played all 13 games.

∎2023 (Arkansas) Played all 12 games.

∎2022 (Hillsdale) Unspecified hand fracture, didn't miss a game. Played all 11 games.

TeSlaa has displayed perfect availability in the past three years of college. He has two proven years post hand fracture which eliminates any concerns with that.

Amon-Ra St. Brown (25) - signed through 2028​

Young, elite, and healthy sums it up. In the past few years, he had a turf toe, oblique strain, and high ankle sprain but those were all mild in severity. He played all games last season and has no active health concerns.

Here is his oblique strain from 2023 for which he missed one game.

Jameson Williams (24) - signed through 2026​

Williams missed only two games last season due to a performance-enhancing-substance suspension. A couple minor ankle sprains are the only injuries in the past two seasons. His 2022 ACL isn't a concern at this point.

Here is the ankle sprain from 2023 for which he missed one game.

Tim Patrick (31) - signed through 2025​

Patrick had a healthy, productive, bounce-back year after missing the prior two seasons with an ACL and an Achilles. He played 17 of 18 games last season.

Kalif Raymond (31) - signed through 2025​

Raymond missed five games last season with a foot injury but was able to return for the final two games of the season. He didn't miss a game in the prior two seasons.

Outlook​

All the WR's enter next season healthy with TeSlaa being no exception. With the top two WR's firmly locked in place, TeSlaa is expected to add young, athletic depth. His size (6' 4") may allow him to take over some of Patrick's duties. His speed (4.43 40-yard dash at the combine) may allow him to fill in for Williams in case of injury.

Looking beyond this year, Patrick and Raymond are aging and on the last year of their deals which clears the way for TeSlaa to become the #3 WR in 2026. Williams had his 5th-year option picked up last week which means he has two years remaining. Williams is not expected to get an extension this offseason which puts his future with the team beyond 2026 in doubt. TeSlaa's performance early in his career may impact the Lions strategy with Williams going forward. If TeSlaa performs well, he has the chance to become the #2 WR in 2027.
