The Eagles have continued to build their roster this offseason, with GM Howie Roseman making several big moves on both sides of the ball. As the team inches closer to training camp, and battles for starting spots still underway, ESPN ranked the Eagles projected starting lineup as the No. 2 best in the NFL in 2026.
The Eagles took second place, behind only the Rams — getting the No. 1 edge rusher, Myles Garrett, this offseason certainly helped them take the first spot.
Among the projected Eagles starters at the safety position were Andrew Mukuba, who’s heading into his second season coming off a major injury, and Marcus Epps, the often overlooked veteran who has earned Vic Fangio’s trust. When ranking the overall starting lineup, this group was considered the weakest by ESPN’s Mike Clay.
While both players might not be highly regarded around the league, Mukuba showed signs of his potential early in the season and Epps is someone Fangio said he was plenty comfortable moving forward with as their replacement for Reed Blankenship. Fangio also admitted that Cooper DeJean will get a lot more work at safety in their base packages this season, so as a whole, the secondary has plenty of weapons.
The Eagles DBs have been doing their own work together this offseason to build their chemistry and rapport, and suggestions that they are a weakness for this year’s Philly team, will only further motivate them to succeed.
