Philip Rivers shocked the NFL world.

He came out of retirement after nearly five years away to start three games at quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts at 44 years old.

Rivers played some quality QB, too.

The Colts, unfortunately, couldn't win any of his three starts, and so they've been eliminated from the playoffs.

That means that in Week 18, Riley Leonard starts at quarterback for the Colts instead of Rivers, allowing the sixth-round rookie to get a development opportunity against the fierce Texans defense.

And we know what's next for Rivers, too.

Is Philip Rivers retiring again?

Yes, Rivers is retiring, again.

He announced the news on Kay Adams' show earlier this week.

If Rivers is done for good, he'll finish his career with 63,984 passing yards and 425 touchdowns.

Those both rank in the top-10 all time.

His stats in his last three games were:

  • 18-27, 120 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT
  • 23-35, 277 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT
  • 17-30, 147 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT

Now, Rivers likely hangs up his cleats for good.
