Lionel Messi has been the story of the 2026 World Cup. His five goals are the most in the tournament and the Golden Boot is becoming increasingly likely.

Argentina is playing Jordan tonight in its final group play match, and since Messi and Co. have already advanced to the Round of 32, many are wondering whether players will sit. Coach Lionel Scaloni revealed his plans Friday.

Messi, who dealt with a hamstring injury prior to the World Cup, will be available for the Jordan match but will come off the substitutes' bench, Scaloni told reporters. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez could be the lone Argentina regular to start tonight, according to ESPN.

It's been the Messi show thus far in the World Cup, as he's scored all five of the team's goals. We'll see if he can add another from the bench tonight.

Who will Argentina play in Round of 32?

Argentina will battle Cape Verde next Friday in Miami.
