The Dallas Cowboys made a great effort to enhance their running game in 2025, and it worked. First-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer spoke about the need to balance the offense attack to help better take advantage of having Dak Prescott at quarterback, then went out and hired an OL coach as offensive coordinator (Klayton Adams) and a top collegiate run game designer as OL coach (Conor Riley).
The club's next move was to sign free agent Javonte Williams. The former second-round pick from Denver was available on the cheap, as he never fully recovered from an early career knee injury. He's been all the way back in 2025, though, but injury concerns returned in Week 15.
Williams was knocked out of the Cowboys' last game with a shoulder/neck injury during the first half. He was replaced by Malik Davis for a while, but he was able to return to the game. He continued to get hand offs but was generally removed from pass protection duties, something he does better than a lot of league RBs.
Williams was limited in practice this week, not being a full participant on either Wednesday or Thursday. But on Friday, the fifth-year running back was a full participant, and the Cowboys did not give him any game designation, indicating he should be full go on Sunday.
