Alphonso Davies hasn't suited up for Canada yet in the 2026 World Cup but that seems likely to change as the action shifts to the knockout stages.
Canada was able to advance from group play without their team captain, who was nursing a hamstring injury as the team went 1-1-1 to clinch second place in Group B and set up a meeting with South Africa in the Round of 32 on Sunday. But they'll probably want the Bayern Munich star on the field going forward, and the latest from head coach Jesse Marsch sounds like Davies will be.
“Now that we have Alphonso back and healthy and ready to perform, I think it’s a big moment for the team and a big boost for the team,” Marsch said Saturday. “I think in general, all the players that came into camp with little injuries are now really close to 100% and ready to perform at the highest level and be at our best in these matches.”
Though Marsch confirmed Davies is ready to return, he refused to say whether Davies will start or how many minutes he'll play.

A journalist asked whether Alphonso Davies would start tomorrow.
Davies chuckled and muttered "start" in a questioning tone. Marsch shut down any talk other than "he is available."#CanMNT
