In an announcement from the league on Tuesday, Iowa graduate senior guard Kylie Feuerbach has been named to the Big Ten All-Defensive Team by the league's coaches and media.
For Feuerbach, this is the first Big Ten All-Defensive Team distinction of her career, as the 6-foot native of Sycamore, Ill., displayed sensational defensive play for the Hawkeyes en route to the program's 24-5 overall record and 15-3 mark in conference play.
In 25 starts and 26 games played this season, Feuerbach has recorded 29 steals and 11 blocks. She has also collected 33 defensive rebounds this season.
As one of the four seniors on the young Iowa squad, Feuerbach has been used primarily by the Hawkeyes as a lock-down defender on their opponents' best shooters, which has helped the program boast one of the conference's most tenacious defenses. Iowa's defense surrenders just 65.2 points per game and just 67.3 points per game in Big Ten play, which ranks as the fifth-best in the conference.
Iowa's defense is limiting opponents to 40.5% field goal shooting.
With Iowa entering the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 2 seed with a double-bye, Feuerbach and the Hawkeyes will play their next game on Friday, March 4, from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis at approximately 5:30 p.m. CT, against either Wisconsin, Illinois, or Michigan State.
