As Iowa football continues to dive into the transfer portal as they start the offseason, the Hawkeyes have secured a scheduled visit from an All-American South Dakota running back, L.J. Phillips Jr., who is one of the top names in the portal out of the FCS level.
According to 247Sports' Chris Hummer, Phillips Jr. will visit Iowa City this week.
The 5-foot-9, 225-pound native of Wichita, Kan., rushed for an FCS-best 1,920 yards along with 19 touchdowns this season for the Coyotes and will have three years of NCAA eligibility remaining wherever he elects to commit to out of the portal.
If the Hawkeyes can land Phillips Jr. out of the transfer portal, he will undoubtedly have an immediate impact on Iowa's ground attack after the team lost both Jaziun Patterson and Terrell Washington Jr. to the transfer portal.
