Isabella Wrana of Stockholm, Sweden won the gold medal in mixed doubles curling at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan/Cortina d’Ampezzo. In the gold medal game, Sweden defeated the United States by a score of 6-5.
At the 2026 Women’s World Curling Championship in Calgary, I caught up with Isabelle in an exclusive interview for The Big Lead.
Q: Congratulations for winning an Olympic gold medal. What was that experience like for you?
A: “It was a dream come true, winning together with my brother (Rasmus). We’ve had that goal for many years. For myself, to compete at the Olympics and earning a medal was great.”
A: “It was such a good team. We had a lot of different success in different sports this time. It was so much fun going to the Olympics with Team Sweden.”
Q: It wasn’t that long between the Olympic Winter Games and the World Women’s Curling Championships. Maybe talk about that process?
A: “I was not competing in the Olympic women’s event. So, I had a few weeks at home to practice with the girls. Then we came to Canada a week ago and competed at the Calgary Curling Club. I think it has been alright.”
Q: Tell me about your game against Team Canada on Saturday afternoon. How impressed were you with Team Einarson’s play?
A: “I think they played really well. I think we started off pretty good, and then I had some difficulties in the middle. They took the chances.”
Q: What are your goals this week?
A: “Our first goal is to qualify for the playoffs. Then of course we want to go for a medal.”

"You kinda have to forget about the losses… focus on how you're playing!"
