Later today, 2026 Texas running back Javian Osborne will be making his decision between Notre Dame and Michigan.
The 5-foot, 10-inch and 200-pound back is considered one of the nations best, ranking as the No. 90 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite Rankings, and he will announce live via their YouTube page.
Osborne had plenty of top-level offers, but narrowed down his list to two teams, as he’s visited both schools during the spring. He’s set his official visits following his commitment, and it will be interesting if he takes both.
Regardless of what will happen in the future, today Osborne will choose either the Irish or the Wolverines. Let’s take a look at who experts believe he will verbal to.
While their individual insider picks are behind a paywall, what isn’t are the total percentages of the choices. The Irish are at the top of their board, with 69.9% of the picks, but there is a very interesting second selection, Texas. The Longhorns were once believed to be the leader, so you have to believe the early picks made weren’t changed. The Wolverines are third, with just 1.7%.
While Jason Suchomel picked the Longhorns in February as the first prediction made, James went with the Irish here. It was just under a month ago when the selection was made, so you have to think the unofficial visit went well.
This one is interesting, as Carpentier initially picked Georgia to win out in Osborne’s recruitment before changing his selection to Notre Dame just a few weeks ago. While he did take an official visit to see the Bulldogs program, the Irish’s recent momentum must have helped make him change his mind.
Sen made his choice just under two weeks ago, and he picked the Irish. He said that an unofficial visit to see the Wolverines didn’t move the needle much, as “Notre Dame still holds the lead heading into Javian’s commitment,” which is great news.
The Texas insider clearly has some good information on Osborne’s recruitment from where his interests were before his final two were announced. He made his pick on Thursday, and while these late picks aren’t always right, more often than not they are.
The Irish insider hasn’t missed on a pick this cycle, going 6-for-6 so far. His selection for Notre Dame was made early last month, and he did mention that (subscription required) the Wolverines has “a noteworthy degree on confidence… rooted in the sheer amount of time Michigan has spent making the 5-foot-10, 195-pounder a priority.”
