T.J. Watt trade buzz has been picking up steam ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft, but one prominent Pittsburgh Steelers insider has seemingly put those rumors to bed.
According to insider Bob Labriola of Steelers.com, there's little reason to believe Watt is anywhere near the trade block — arguing the new coaching staff wouldn't want to get rid of a player of his caliber.
"There would be little reason for a new coaching staff to be interested in unloading a pedigreed player who also serves as a leader and example to his teammates in the way he works, prepares, and conducts himself as a professional," Labriola wrote via his Asked and Answered chat.
Watt, who was rewarded with a new three-year, $123 million contract in July 2025, failed to live up to expectations of being one of the highest-paid non-quarterbacks last season, recording just seven sacks and 10 tackles for loss in 14 games.
Although there are real concerns surrounding Watt's potential decline, the new Mike McCarthy-led Steelers are apparently committed to the former Defensive Player of the Year and won't be looking to trade him anytime soon.
