The Dallas Cowboys spent the majority of their offseason looking to correct one of the worst defenses in league history. After an extensive search landed them Christian Parker as the new defensive coordinator, they went to work on fixing the personnel issues they had. Parker identified the secondary, primarily the safety spot, as the biggest problem area that needed to be addressed.
He signed two free agent safeties in Jalen Thompson from Arizona and PJ Locke out of Denver. Thompson got most of the fanfare, but Parker had worked with Locke during their time together with the Broncos, and the low-cost signing was seen as a savvy grab of a backup who could evolve into a starter.
However on the first day of training camp, Locke had to leave the field due to an apparent leg injury. Here he was with a hitch in his step as he headed to the locker room.
