The IndyCar Series is back for a Monday matinee of the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix on July 20 at Nashville Superspeedway.
The race, originally scheduled for July 19, was postponed due to weather after multiple storms soaked the track. Green flag is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Central on July 20.
After a day filled with World Cup extra-time angst and weather coming and going, the outlook for both is better on this Monday. The World Cup is complete, and rain is not in the forecast.
But teams, drivers and fans alike will have to deal with a triple-digit heat index throughout the day. The National Weather Service forecasts a temperature of 92 degrees and the heat index at 105 degrees at the time of the green flag.
Kyle Kirkwood is on pole, with Hendersonville's Josef Newgarden starting second and aiming to repeat as Music City GP champion.
The race also has been shortened down to 225 laps, the length of last year's Music City GP.
Drivers will have to manage a hotter track surface during the warmest part of the day while building back any washed-off rubber from the rain.
