Here is one sentence about each driver’s performance in the 2026 Indianapolis 500.

  1. Felix Rosenqvist: A new father conquers a six-year winless drought with his biggest triumph yet.
  2. David Malukas: A new crowd hero emerged from second place.
  3. Scott McLaughlin: Third’s a hell of a lot better than 33rd.
  4. Pato O’Ward: Was on the right strategy, just not in the right place.
  5. Marcus Armstrong: Late leader got swallowed up after a gutsy effort to get up front.
  6. Rinus VeeKay: He made himself prominent late for one of IndyCar’s smallest teams.
  7. Alex Palou: Sometimes you just get lost in the shuffle.
  8. Santino Ferrucci: Eight top 10s in eight 500s and finishing eighth only makes numerologists happy.
  9. Romain Grosjean: Race’s largest mover survived a pit lane penalty to get a top 10 finish.
  10. Takuma Sato:Ed Carpenter’s not too happy with him.

11. Nolan Siegel: Someone who needed a good day got just that.

12. Conor Daly: With the race’s fastest lap and a very fast car, frustration is the only emotion possible.

25. Helio Castroneves: The Drive for Five Remains Alive. Again.

26. Caio Collet: The fastest rookie impressed by leading.

27. Christian Rasmussen: An unexplained power loss ended a brutal day for ECR at Indy.

28. Josef Newgarden: A brutal accident ended a two-time winner’s hard charge.

29. Will Power: Power’s car lacked its namesake as smoke billowed out the rear.

30. Alexander Rossi: Last year’s car came with last year’s luck for Monday’s spinner.

31. Ed Carpenter: Restart chaos scooped up one of Indy’s veteran racers.

32. Ryan Hunter-Reay: An uncharacteristic error ends a fierce competitor’s chances early.

33. Katherine Legge: By swerving, she may have saved Ryan Hunter-Reay from serious injury.
