Indian-origin Jerrssis Wadia and Aryan Sharma picked in Cricket Australia squads

Two young cricketers with Indian roots, Jerrssis Wadia and Aryan Sharma, have earned places in Cricket Australia pathway squads, marking another step forward in their careers.

Wadia, a batter from South Australia, has been named in the Cricket Australia XI squad that will take on the Bangladesh men's Test team in a three-day match in Darwin from August 6 to 8.



He has come through Adelaide's premier cricket system and was also part of the Adelaide Strikers squad during the latest Big Bash League season.

Aryan Sharma, a Victorian all-rounder, has been selected in Australia's Men's Development Squad for the MRF Academy Program in Chennai. Sharma previously represented Australia at the ICC Under-19 Men's Cricket World Cup and was also included in the Melbourne Stars squad during the last BBL season.

The Development Squad will play two two-day matches in Chennai from August 5–6 and August 10–11, with both games expected to test players on spin-friendly pitches.

Former Australia coach Tim Nielsen will be in charge of the CA XI for the Darwin fixture against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, former Australia Test captain Tim Paine and Anthony Clark will oversee the coaching staff for the Development Squad during the Chennai tour.

The selections are another important milestone for both Wadia and Sharma as they continue to push for higher honours in Australian cricket.
