Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl Foundation Chair Sarah Giglio spoke out following a social media post that claimed teams rejected the bowl bid because it’s held in Shreveport.
Giglio wrote on Facebook, Wednesday, Dec. 10, "Nobody rejected a bowl bid from the Independence Bowl. Nobody said they weren't willing to come to Shreveport. In fact--when I visit with coaches, ADs, and conference personnel, they ALWAYS talk about how wonderful their bowl experience is here."
This comment comes after a local Facebook page claimed that Iowa State and Kansas State were both fined $500,000 because they declined to accept the bowls bid because it’s held in Shreveport.
Giglio continued in her post by stating, "The person/people stating this weren't in the room when decisions were made. I was. There are, unfortunately, a lot of moving pieces in the college football world that need some fine-tuning, and trust me, they're working on it. This isn't about destinations."

Giglio told the Shreveport Times, "There are a lot of positives about Shreveport-Bossier City, including the Independence Bowl, and we hope the people in our community can focus on and rally around all the good things about our community."
