WBC Middleweight champion Carlos Adames has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled title defense against Austin Williams, which was set to go down this Saturday night (Jan. 31, 2026) inside Madison Square Garden in New York City due to illness, per a report from The Ring.
Adames (24-1) hasn’t fought since his split draw with Hamzah Sheeraz (22-0-1) in February of last year in, though he was on a six-fight win streak prior to that. As for Williams, he is on a three-fight win streak and has a record of 19-1 with 13 knockouts. Now, he will have to wait a bit longer before he can claim WBC gold.
The Ring VI main event see Teofimo Lopez defend his WBO and The Ring Light Welterweight titles against Shakur Stevenson, who is undefeated at 24-0 and is the current WBC Lightweight champion of the world. The main card will now feature five fights.
