Payton will most likely follow the Pete Carroll example. When the Seahawks hired Carrol, he was made the VP of football operations having the GM (Schneider) report to him. Belichick has the same authority. It has worked well for both the Seahawks and Patriots.

yeah that’s how NFL works now. The elite coaches if they become available pick their GM’s.
